Bugsys Club Review

Summary

Bugsys Club has been built around a close nit community of players who are loyal to the poker room. This has resulted in the competition being a little tougher than you might find elsewhere and only reasonable (not stellar) levels of traffic. However, despite these minor weaknesses Bugsys Club has many things going for it. There are plenty of micro limit games that experienced players will not be interested in to cater to the beginners, a generous first deposit bonus and loyal scheme is in place to reward loyal members and live support is provided from the lobby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are looking to feel like a valued member of a poker room, not just another player, then you can’t go far wrong with Bugsys Club.

Poker Games Available

Bugsys Club is known more for it tournaments than its ring games, but it still has a good selection including Texas Holdem (limit, no limit and pot limit), Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo (limit and pot limit), 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. Texas Holdem blinds range from $0.02/$0.05 to $10/$20 in no limit and $0.10/$0.25 to $20/$40 in fixed limit.

The tournaments draw the most players to Bugsys Club. Tournaments are available in Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud Hi/Lo in both SNG and multi table format. SNG’s are available in both full table and short-handed versions (although there are no multi table SNG’s) with buyins ranging from $0.50+$0.05 to $100+$9. The daily scheduled multi table tournaments are complemented with a number of satellites, signature tournaments and guaranteed prize pool tournaments including the $10,000 Sunday tournament. As you play in tournaments you also earn points towards the tournament leagues run by Bugsys Club which each week reward the most successful SNG and multi table tournament players with a share of a $10,000 prize pool. If you’re a freeroll player then be aware that Bugsys Club does not offer freerolls as frequently as the larger poker rooms do and the ones that do happen generally tend to have low prize pools (sub $100.

Software

Bugsys Club works on both PC (running Windows 98 or higher) and Mac (running Mac OS X version 10.1 or higher). The lobby is more functional than attractive providing you with enough data from which to select a suitable game including the number of players waiting (no one likes to join a queue!), the average pot size, the average number of hands being played per hour and the average percentage of players who see the flop.

Those who like to play at more than table at a time will be pleased to hear that the tables can be resized. Those, however, that like an attractive poker room may well be disappointed – the current top down 2D view is in need of an overhaul. Nevertheless, by way of compensation for the graphics you are provided with some highly detailed stats that allow you to analyse your play. You can also request for hand histories to be emailed to you from the table that allows you to easily review the session and work out what went right, or more importantly, what went wrong!

Bonus

Every player who joins Bugsys Club is entitled to a first deposit bonus that is currently 100% up to a maximum of $600. In order to convert the bonus into real money you need to earn BPP (Bugsys Club Loyalty points as explained below). For every 100 BBP you earn $10 of the bonus will be released into your main account for you to use at the tables. Be warned that if you make a withdraw before earning enough BBP to release the whole of your bonus your bonus balance will be reduced to zero and you will no longer be able to release it as you play.

Loyalty Programs

Bugsys Club rewards members for their loyalty with Bugsys Bonus Points (BBP). You earn BPP as you play in ring games and tournaments, e.g. single table, multi table and satellites. The only tournaments you do not receive BPP for playing in are freerolls where no tournament fee is paid. Once you have acquired 100 BBP you can turn them into cash. Alternatively you can use the BBP to enter further tournaments where you stand to win cash or even more BPP. BPP are also used to release the new player bonus. The amount of BPP you have can easily be viewed at any time via the cashier screen.

Bugsys club provides players with top-notch support in the form of a “live help” application where you can speak to a customer service representative almost instantly 24/7. Alternatively you can send any questions or queries to one of a number of support email address depending on the nature of your problem. The only thing letting down Bugsys Club in terms of support is that no telephone support is provided; a surprising omission for such an established poker room.
